A whole new skill.

Explore what we cover. Go deeper into any topic below.

The foundations of a beautiful tan

From the fundamentals of sunless tanning through consultation, formula selection, application, aftercare, and business growth.

You will learn how to:

  • Understand how DHA develops on the skin
  • Evaluate skin type, condition, and undertone
  • Select formulas based on the client — not guesswork
  • Adjust application for dry, oily, sensitive, mature, and uneven skin
  • Create smooth, balanced, natural-looking color
  • Prevent common problems before they happen
  • Apply controlled, consistent full-body coverage
  • Blend difficult areas such as hands, feet, wrists, knees, and ankles
  • Give accurate rinse and aftercare instructions
  • Price, market, and grow a profitable spray tan business
Confidence in every client decision

Most beginner classes teach a sequence of movements. Sunkissed Academy teaches professional decisions.

A basic technician follows the same routine on every client. A trained artist understands that every client is different.

You will learn to assess:

  • Skin condition
  • Undertone
  • Desired depth
  • Event timing
  • Previous spray tan experience
  • Preparation quality
  • Rinse-time availability
  • Lifestyle and aftercare habits

The goal is not to memorize one formula or one application routine. The goal is to understand why you are making each decision.

Skin and color, made clearer

A beautiful spray tan begins before the first spray pass.

Students learn how skin type, hydration, texture, redness, oil production, pigmentation, and undertone can affect the final result.

You will learn how to distinguish between:

  • Skin depth and undertone
  • Warm, cool, and neutral undertones
  • Color correction and color enhancement
  • Formula direction and DHA depth
  • Traditional and rapid development
  • Natural glow, medium bronze, and deeper-color goals

This allows you to create results that look intentional, balanced, and believable.

Finding the right formula

Choosing a solution should never be random.

You will learn a repeatable consultation process for selecting the appropriate:

  • Formula base
  • DHA range
  • Rinse time
  • Color direction
  • Application intensity
  • Client expectations

The course also covers how to use solution families and color-adjusting drops responsibly without relying on them to correct poor consultation or poor technique.

Hands-on application

A structured full-body application sequence designed to improve consistency and reduce missed areas.

Training includes:

  • Equipment setup and spray pattern control
  • Correct working distance
  • Client positioning
  • Smooth pass speed
  • Layering without oversaturation
  • Blending difficult areas
  • Curvy and plus-size client positioning
  • Face, hand, and foot application
  • Final coverage inspection
  • Immediate correction techniques

You will practice how to recognize and correct common issues such as uneven coverage, wrist creases, ankle lines, dry-area overdevelopment, and missed body zones.

A modern training experience

Sunkissed Academy uses a proprietary education system to help students better understand skin assessment, positioning, application consistency, and service outcomes.

Students are taught how to combine visual assessment, consultation, application technique, and structured review to improve repeatability and confidence.

Technology is a training aid, not a replacement for professional judgment. Specific tools, methods, and training systems are taught only inside the course.

Consultation, preparation, and safety

A professional service starts with a professional consultation.

Students learn how to evaluate:

  • Client preparation
  • Allergies and sensitivities
  • Skin concerns
  • Event dates
  • Desired results
  • Past spray tan experiences
  • Contraindications
  • Rinse and aftercare requirements

The course also covers when a service should be adjusted, postponed, or declined because of irritated, compromised, sunburned, peeling, or actively inflamed skin.

Aftercare that keeps clients coming back

A successful appointment does not end when the spraying stops.

You will learn how to provide clear instructions covering:

  • Initial rinse
  • Development expectations
  • Moisturizing
  • Shaving
  • Swimming and exercise
  • Product compatibility
  • Natural fading
  • Extending the life of the tan

Better education creates better results, fewer complaints, and stronger client retention.

The business of your glow

Technical skill matters, but skill alone does not create a booked business.

The business section covers:

  • Setting professional prices
  • Understanding product and service costs
  • Creating profitable packages
  • Increasing average appointment value
  • Memberships and repeat-client systems
  • Bridal and event services
  • Client communication
  • Booking and follow-up workflows
  • Before-and-after documentation
  • Social media content
  • Portfolio building
  • Referral and retention strategies

You will leave with a clearer understanding of how to turn spray tanning into a professional, repeatable service — not an occasional side hustle.
